Mdina, The Silent City:
The old capital of Malta is a typical mediaeval, walled city situated in the centre of the Island. Mdina is the seat of several noble houses, including the islands' oldest titled family - created barons in 1350. The "Silent City", as it is also known, commands magnificent vistas of the island.
Rabat:
This large provincial township was part of the Roman City of
Melita. The Roman wall extended to where today is the Civic
Centre. Rabat was separated from Mdina during the Arab domination.
Mosta:
This Rotunda at Mosta is one of the most conspicuous churches in Malta. The Church in form of the pantheon in Rome was designed by George Grognet De Vasse and constructed in 1833 - 1860. During World War II this church miraculaously survived an aerial attack when a bomb pierced the dome and ricocheted inside the Church without exploding.
Ta Qali Crafts Village:
The village is a big attraction for tourists who can see Maltese craftsmen at work and view the product of their handiwork. Blown glass, gold, silver and filigree ware, ceramics, ironwork, knitwear and other goods are on sale at the souvenir outlets in this handicraft centre.
Marsaxlokk - Fishing Village:
Marsaxlokk is the foremost fishing village and perhaps the most picturesque seaside locality in Malta. One can here admire the small fishing craft the 'Luzzu' and 'Kajikk' painted in vivid colours or red, yellow green and blue floating lightly on the calm waters of the bay.
