8-DAY TOUR OF SICILY

1st Day       CATANIA - CEFALU - TERRASINI

Arrive in Catania driving to Cefalù, to visit this little town and its famous Duomo Arabo-Normanno, one of the most beautiful churches in Sicily, built by Ruggero II, first king of Sicily.

Lastly we drive to Terrasini and arrival at our first hotel late afternoon and have dinner. Spend overnight in Terrasini.

2nd Day     PALERMO AND MONREALE

Start off with breakfast, then depart for a half-day tour of Palermo, regional and provincial capital of Sicily. Encircled by the mountains and the sea, it is a city steeped in history. We will start the visit from the old part of the city the Royal Palace, the Palatina Chapel and the Cathedral.

After that we drive to Monreale famous for its Cathedral, with Byzantine mosaics, the figure of Christ Pantocreator and the Cloister.

In the afternoon we head to Mount Pellegrino to enjoy the wonderful panorama above the gulf of Palermo, and to Mondello, little village of fishermen and important bathing locality. Dinner and overnight in Terrasini.

3rd Day     TERRASINI- PIAZZA ARMERINI

Start off with breakfast in Hotel and departure to Piazza Armerini to visit the Villa Romana del Casale famous for the most beautiful collection of late-Roman mosaics. Late afternoon we arrive in the Hotel where we will have dinner and overnight.

4th Day     AGRIGENTO - LICATA

In the morning we start with breakfast in the Hotel, then an excursion to Agrigento. Agrigento is a city on the southern coast of Sicily, Italy, and capital of the province of Agrigento. It is renowned as the site of the ancient Greek city of Akragas. Ancient Akragas covers a huge area - much of which is still unexcavated today - but is exemplified by the famous Valle dei Templi.

From Agrigento we will head to Licata and spend the rest of the afternoon there. Licata is renowned for its' Archaeological remains of the ancient Greek city, at Monte Sant'Angelo. Here is also a Spanish watch fort dating from the 16th century, The necropolis of Monte Petrulla, Frourion of Falaride, a Greek fortress, The lighthouse, which is the third tallest in Italy and the Church of Santa Maria La Nova, built in the 15th century but largely renovated in following times. It houses the Black Christ's Chapel.

5th Day     ETNA - GARDINI NAXOS

In the morning we start with breakfast in the Hotel, then an excursion to Etna, the highest mountain in Sicily and the highest vulcan in Europe. The territory surrounding of the vulcan constitutes the "Park of Etna", one of the largest protected area in Italy: We will be very astonish about the great variety of vegetation and landscapes that we will meet along the way. We will arrive to the "Silvesti Craters" (about 1.900 mt); there we will have the possibility to continue the excursion by jeep.

Then we drive to our Hotel in Gardini Nexos where we will be staying for the last 3 nights. This place is renowned for there shops, discothèques, Karaoke bars, strolling musicians wearing traditional Sicilian costumes, live bands, theatrical productions, and impromptu dancing on the beaches at night.

6th Day     TAORMINA

In the morning we start with breakfast in the Hotel, then we will explore the town of Taormina situated on a rocky plateau on the slopes of the steeply dropping Monte Tauro, dominating the Ionian coast from Capo Sant'Andrea to Capo Taormina and visit of the theatre, the 2nd largest classical theatre in Sicily. This is a small town on the east coast of the island of Sicily, Italy, in the Province of Messina, about midway between Messina and Catania. Taormina has been a very popular tourist destination since the 19th century. It has popular beaches on the Ionian sea, which is remarkably warm and has a high salt content.

Among others, Taormini is also popular for its sites such as The Teatro Greco, The Duomo (Cathedral), dating from the 13th century, Palazzo Corvaja (10th century) and the Baroque fountain (1635).

7th Day     NOTO - SIRACUSA

Start off with breakfast in the hotel. We will have a full day excursion, first stop in Noto, to discover the beautiful baroque in Sicily. Next we go to Siracusa, one of the most interesting archaeological sites on the island.

We can have a Guided tour of the Archeological Park, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Orecchio of Dionisio, la Grotta dei Cordari, Island of Ortigia, the most ancient nucleus of the city with its interesting dome.

Return to the hotel in the late afternoon, dinner and overnight.

Start off with breakfast in the hotel and check out. We will drive down to the flea market in Catania and you will have a free day shopping.
